How can Psychology help me?

The science of Psychology is exploring how the mind works, evaluating how people learn, facilitating peak human performance and helping people make healthy lifestyle choices.

Psychologists use scientific research to better understand how people learn, interpret events and make decisions. They then translate that knowledge into techniques to help people make smarter choices in their daily lives.

Based on a deep knowledge of how lifestyles are affected by factors related to biology, mental processes, and social relationships and interactions, Psychologists identify and help people overcome the obstacles that inhibit them from making better choices, from exercising more or working more efficiently to using technology safely. Psychologists use psychological science to help people tap into their potential and help them perform at an optimal level.

What can I expect at my Appointment?

Many people actually find it really hard to make and also attend that very first appointment with a Psychologist. We hope that providing you with some information on what to expect at your appointment we can extinguish some of the discomfort around taking that step.

Generally, when you make that first appointment you will be asked to come in five to ten minutes early so you can complete some paperwork for us. At your appointment time, your Psychologist will come out and introduce herself to you in the waiting room. Your Psychologist will then take you through to the consulting room to discuss with you how confidentiality works followed by the two of you talking about what it is that has brought you to counselling.
